Born in 1963 in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela, Mario Colina graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor’s in Painting and Drawing from Miguel Ángel Private Academia of Art. When he isn’t creating art, Colina is a professor in Bellas Artes Theater and Art Center where he teaches a course of Painting and Drawing. Colina also takes part in restoration projects specifically of church’s frescoes. The artist lives and works in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
Colina’s work has been the subject of several solo and group exhibitions including the 66th Biennale Salon Arturo Michelena – Valencia, Venezuela (2012), Seamos Realistas Exhibition – Art Center Lia Bermudez in Maracaibo, Venezuela(2016), Aruba Art Fair- Oranjestad, Aruba(2018), among many others. The artist has also been the recipient of numerous awards and distinctions including First Prize of the IV Biennale of Maracaibo, First Prize of First Salon of Art CorpoZulia by Lia Bermudez Museum, and the Artistic Mention of Almanaque in XVII Salon Cabriales in Valencia, Venezuela.
